SWLA Law Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that provides top rate legal services to close the justice gap in Southwest Louisiana. We utilize legal skills and capabilities for the betterment of the community. The Law Center was formed in 1967 to provide reduced fee legal services to those who fall in the “gap”. Our typical client is employed, yet earning wages which disqualify them from receiving legal aid, yet not providing enough to pay a private attorney. Fees are charged on an hourly-rate and are based on a sliding scale. Generally speaking, we are “low bono” – not pro bono. The Center primarily provides support to individuals and families in need of legal assistance with family matters, victims of domestic violence, and those facing eviction.
As a United Way Agency, funding comes from grants, private donations, and client fees. Your donation will help the SWLA Law Center close the justice gap in Southwest Louisiana.
