The Sonoma Overlook Trail is maintained by an all volunteer group. Maintenance, restoration and educational programs are funded by individuals, local civic groups and businesses at no cost to the City of Sonoma.
The trail is experiencing significant wear and tear that needs to be addressed in order to keep our trail viable for the future!
After being professionally evaluated by California State Parks Trail Designer Don Beers, it has been determined that reroutes and rehabilitation are recommended in order to keep our trail sustainable. These recommendations provide the impetus of a two phase restoration plan for the Sonoma Overlook Trail System.
It is estimated that the trail's daily use ranges from 150 people during the weekdays
to 300 people during the weekends. These numbers double during holidays. Without proper upkeep and restoration our trail will deteriorate to the point that it is no longer sustainable. Let's not let that happen!
We're now accepting donations! We need your help to reach our goal, and any amount makes a difference.
The Sonoma Overlook Trail is fiscally sponsored by the Sonoma Ecology Center, a California non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation qualified to receive tax-deductible donations. Its tax ID number is #94-3136500. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
